Affiliate Disclosure
The short version: we earn a commission when you buy through a link here, it costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what we recommend.
Required disclosure
Cover & Cargo is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
How the links work
When you click a “check price on Amazon” button on this site, you go to the retailer's listing through a tracked link. If you buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. The price you pay is identical to what you would pay going there directly — affiliate commissions come out of the retailer's margin, not off the top of your purchase.
Every commercial link on this site is marked with rel="sponsored nofollow" in the page source, opens in a new tab, and carries a visible #ad label under the button. Pages that carry buy links also carry a disclosure line above the recommendations, not buried at the bottom.
Which links earn and which do not
- Buy buttons earn. Every “check price on Amazon” button and every product tile CTA is a tracked affiliate link.
- Source citations do not. Links to manufacturer specification pages, warranty documents, published tests and news articles are plain links. We cite them because they are the evidence, not because they pay.
- Internal links do not. Links between pages on this site are navigation.
At launch, Amazon is the only retailer we have an affiliate relationship with in this category. If a cover is better bought elsewhere — a direct manufacturer sale with a better warranty route, for instance — we say so and link there anyway, even though it earns us nothing. Peragon sells direct with a 60-day return window and we name that as an advantage despite having no commission arrangement with them.
What stops the commission deciding the rankings
Three things, and they are structural rather than promises:
- The rubric is published. Every cover is scored on the same six metrics, each read from a cited source. If a ranking is not supported by those scores, you can see it. The methodology page sets it out in full.
- Nobody pays for placement. No brand on this site has been given a say in a ranking, has reviewed a page before publication, or has paid for coverage. There is no sponsored content here.
- Cheaper wins where cheaper is right. A higher-commission product does not move up. The BAKFlip G2 is recommended over the more expensive MX4 for buyers who will never load the cover, which is the correct advice regardless of what either pays.
Prices
We publish no price figures. There is no verified live price feed behind this site yet, and we would rather show nothing than a number that was true last quarter. Every button sends you to the current listing, where the price is whatever it is today.
We also do not publish deals, discounts, price predictions or seasonal sale pages, and we never claim a price is about to rise.
Reviews and ratings
There are no customer testimonials on this site, because we have not received any from verifiable named sources. We do not invent them, and we do not borrow another business's. The scores you see are our own editorial judgment on a published rubric, clearly labeled as such, and they are deliberately kept out of our structured data as product ratings — we did not run the tests that would justify one.
Questions
If anything about how this site is funded is unclear, or you think a recommendation has been influenced by a commission, write to contact@coverandcargo.com and say which page. We will answer it.
