Truck Bed Gifts Under $100

Small, fitment-free, and genuinely useful. These are the things truck owners never get round to buying.

Cover & Cargo earns a commission from qualifying purchases made through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It does not change what we recommend or the order we rank things in — here is how we choose and here is the full disclosure.

What this is based on: published manufacturer specifications and warranty terms, cited on each cover; independent published tests where they exist, named and linked; and verifiable owner reports of specific failure modes. We have not fitted these covers to a truck, we do not run a test lab, and we do not claim a test we did not run. Where the evidence for a cover is thin, the page says it is thin.

Scores are our own editorial judgment on the rubric published at our editorial policy page, weighing security, weather sealing, bed access, install effort, durability, value. They are read off published specifications, warranty terms and sourced owner reports. They are not measurements we took, and they are not user ratings.

The short answer

Everything here is fitment-free. No bed length, no model year, no awkward questions.

Both picks are things owners genuinely do not buy for themselves, which is the definition of a good small gift.

We do not publish prices. “Under $100” describes the category these items sit in; check the current listing before committing to a budget.

A note on the price in the title

This site publishes no price figures, because there is no verified live price feed behind it and a stale number is worse than no number. The items on this page are accessories rather than covers, which is the price tier the title describes — but the current figure is whatever Amazon shows today, and that is the one to check before you commit to a budget.

Covers themselves are a different tier entirely. If a cover is what you want to give, the main gift page covers that, including the budget options.

A one-key lock

The best small gift in this category, if the recipient has a cover with a replaceable lock cylinder.

A BOLT cylinder codes itself permanently to the truck's ignition key the first time it is turned — spring-loaded plate tumblers move to match the key and the cylinder is set. After that the cover opens with the key already on their ring, one fewer thing to carry.

It carries a limited lifetime warranty, fits many Ford, RAM, Toyota, Nissan and GM light trucks including the GM center-cut high-security keys that most aftermarket locks cannot handle, and is fitted as standard on UnderCover Elite, Elite XL and the Extang Encore — which tells you manufacturers use it rather than only the aftermarket.

Pass this on with it: the coding is permanent. One vehicle, no re-keying. It is a great gift for somebody keeping their truck and a poor one for somebody about to change it — how it works in full.

A UV protectant

The least glamorous gift on this site and probably the most useful one.

Vinyl tonneau covers chalk under UV — the surface loses its sheen, goes faintly powdery, and eventually hardens and cracks. It is slow, it is almost entirely preventable, and absolutely nobody buys protectant for themselves.

303 Aerospace Protectant publishes SPF 40 UV protection, which it states is the most offered by any surface protectant, and is specifically listed for tonneau cover use. It also covers rubber, plastic, leather and fiberglass, so it will not sit unused if their cover turns out to be aluminum. Each application is stated to last months, so a bottle lasts a couple of years.

The routine to pass on with it: wash first, work out of direct sun, spray and wipe completely dry.

What is deliberately not on this page

Things we are not recommending as gifts, and why
Common suggestionWhy it is not here
Bed liners, mats, drawers, extendersOutside what this site researches; we have no sourced basis to rank them
ToolboxesSame, and they interact with cover fitment in ways that need their own page
Replacement seals or clampsNeed the recipient's cover part number, which makes them a poor surprise
Anything cover-shaped under $100No cover we would recommend sits in that tier

This site covers tonneau covers specifically. We are not going to recommend products we have not researched to the same standard just because they would round out a gift page.

If neither of these fits

A gift card to the retailer is not a cop-out here — it is arguably the correct answer, because the recipient can order against their own bed length and model year without anybody having to ask. Fitment is the hard part of this category, and handing that decision to the person who knows the truck solves it entirely.

The picks in detail

#1 · One key for the whole truck

BOLT One-Key Tonneau Lock

BOLT Lock · Accessory

A replacement lock cylinder that codes itself to your truck's ignition key the first time you turn it, so the cover opens with the key already in your pocket.

Weather sealingnot published
Bed accessnot published
Install effortnot published
8.3overall, out of 10

What it does well

  • Removes a key from your ring without reducing security
  • Limited lifetime warranty on a part that costs a fraction of a cover
  • Covers the awkward GM center-cut high-security key, which many aftermarket locks do not

Where it gives way

  • Permanent coding — once set to a truck it stays set
  • Only helps if your cover takes a replaceable cylinder
  • No benefit at all if the cover already locks with the tailgate

Skip it if: Anyone who sells trucks often. The coding is permanent — the lock cannot be re-keyed to a different vehicle.

#2 · Keeping vinyl alive

303 Aerospace Protectant

303 Products · Accessory

The UV protectant the vinyl-cover makers keep pointing at. Published SPF 40, specifically listed for tonneau covers, and the cheapest thing you can do to stop a soft cover chalking.

Install effortnot published
8.5overall, out of 10

What it does well

  • Published SPF 40 rather than an unquantified 'UV protection' claim
  • Explicitly listed for tonneau cover use by the manufacturer
  • Months per application, so it is a two-or-three-times-a-year job, not a weekly one

Where it gives way

  • Has to be wiped completely dry or it streaks
  • Does nothing for a hard aluminum or TPO cover
  • Will not reverse vinyl that has already chalked — it is prevention only

Skip it if: Aluminum or TPO hard panels, which have their own coatings and do not need it.

Common questions

What truck gifts are there under $100?

Accessories rather than covers. A BOLT one-key lock, which codes itself to the truck's ignition key so the cover opens with a key they already carry, and a UV protectant for a vinyl cover. Both fit any truck and neither needs a bed length or a model year.

What is a good small gift for someone with a tonneau cover?

A UV protectant, if the cover is vinyl. It is the least glamorous gift here and probably the most useful — vinyl chalks under UV, it is almost entirely preventable, and nobody buys protectant for themselves. 303 Aerospace publishes SPF 40 and is specifically listed for tonneau cover use.

Can I buy a tonneau cover for under $100?

Not one we would recommend. This site publishes no price figures, but no cover in our registry sits in that tier — the budget covers worth buying are a step above it. For under $100, accessories are the better gift, or a gift card so they can order against their own bed.

Is a gift card a bad truck gift?

In this category it is arguably the right answer. Fitment is the hard part — bed length, model year, factory bed options — and handing that decision to the person who knows the truck solves it completely without anyone having to ask awkward questions.
